There are so many products out there today, and it can be overwhelming to determine which one is the ‘right’ one for the job. The fact is, there’s no right or wrong product, only ones that work for what YOU need. I’ve spent years testing and developing outdoor products, and I’ve always tried to understand what it is about a product that makes it so ‘right’. Through my experience I’ve come to realize that it’s not about the ‘right’ product being the best product out there, what matters is that the product is right for the actual customer. Sure, we look for key terms to describe products like QUALITY, INNOVATION, and VALUE, but none of these really matter if the product doesn’t solve the problem the customer has. Recommending product is almost like match making; the consumer and product need to be a good fit for one other.
How I approach the product-customer ‘matchmaking’ process is with budget, purpose, and the overall goal in mind. Subsequently I try to determine which product best fits these criteria.
The ultimate goal of a product is to help you be more efficient. It needs to perform when you are counting on it most, and it shouldn’t break YOUR bank. Everyone’s budget is different, but when making a purchasing decision you want to feel like a winner; you want to feel like your hard-earned dollar was being well spent. Spending ‘too much’ money on something is already setting up the product to fail you. In my opinion, every product purchased should feel like a value. If it doesn’t, it wasn’t a good match to begin with.
The overall goal or purpose of the product helps determine the type of investment you may be willing to make. When you’re starting something new, you don’t have to get the most extravagant product right out of the gate. But the product still needs to perform. It’s the worst feeling when you purchase something new and after the first couple times in the field it breaks or makes your experience even more difficult than it needs to be. The best investment is in a product that sets you up to succeed long term, IF that is your overall goal. All of the clues to finding the ‘right’ product begin with you and your needs.
My outfitting strategy is simple; it’s about YOU. Share with me your purpose, goals and budget and I’ll help you find the ‘right’ product(s) for you. Let me help you get out there.
Jaime! This is looking amazing! I love the videos you’ve posted. The archery video was so informative and I learned so much! You have a wonderful presence on the camera and you are very approachable and easy to understand. You explain all of the “big scary” words to someone like me in a way that is easier to understand and less intimidating. I hope to make a trip to see you soon and go fishing!
You are amazing and I want to be just like you when I grow up.
